1996, what a year!

Everyone has their year. One year that really sticks out in your childhood memory. For me it was 1996. I had just finished my sophomore year at Woodlawn. I had a metallic purple Jackson Kelly standard guitar that I took with me on my vacation to Destin, FL. Prong's "Rude Awakening" and Pantera's "The Great Southern Trenkill" were our soundtracks. We listened to those cd's nonstop, sometimes while White Zombie's "Astro Creep 2000" was playing. Our dad had sold his company Tackle Logic and took us on vacation. Life was incredible. Yesterday I was moving some things to Metairie and noticed a picture of my g/f on a shelf from 96'. It was a pic with her mother and grandmother standing next to her. She was hot then too! She didn't go through the same awkward phase I did.I thought it was a nice coincidence that my brother sent me this pic the same day.
Anyway, During this vacation we went to Fudpuckers and watched a band called Miss Demeanor. They covered Dishwalla's "Counting Blue Cars" perfectly!
The only suck part was coming home to find our rock station 100.7 The Tiger had changed their format to Country. That was a Rude Awakening.

  1. 1996 was a great year for me too. Graduated from high school and spent the summer going out with high school friends before going away to LSU. Lots of great memories, I remember being carefree and happy. No real responsibilities yet. I think it was the last year I was able to do whatever Carly wanted, after that summer, living in the real world hit hard ;)

  2. This is such a great pic of you guys. 96 was a interesting year for me. I started dialysis for the first time and got my first transplant in Nov of 96. That was also the year our Dad came for Xmas to see us. By the way Mom and I ran in to Joel at Subway yesterday.
