Houston at Hopson's

My two beautiful girl friends were around (one stays in Houston) and I hadn't seen my friend Hopson in awhile so we all met up at Hopson's house Sunday. For those of you that are on my dropbox you can view the rest of these pics in full res. Those that are not you better ask somebody.
Anyway, we had a great time. It was the first time I put Joaney in the pool. Joaney thought she wanted to swim out on her own but quickly freaked out when i let her and she swallowed water. She learned how to use a child life preserver though. She slept like a rock this night. Glad Kristen (left) and Barb (right) got to hang out at Hopson's and meet Joaney for the first time.
I remember a few years ago I was going to BRCC and Kristen just had her son. Her son is now 12! What the crap man? I'm glad I've been able to keep in touch with friends from middle school.

Woot Woot!

I like sites like this with bargains to be had and cool tshirts. I've looked at techbagains for a while. Every now and then you can find some really good deals there. Woot.com is another great site. They post one item a day and that item runs till they are out of stock. They also rarely put up for sale a "bag o crap". You don't know whats in the bag, it could be a playstation, tv, or some cheap plastic helicopters. Yugster is like a cheaper version of woot. Sometimes yugster will post some decent items.

N.O. gets the biggest pump

Taken from Gizmodo. I just thought this was cool.

They're building the world's largest water pump in New Orleans.

This pump's 5,000-horsepower diesel engine spins a four-blade propeller 150 times a minute. The result is the movement of 15 Olympic-size-swimming-pools worth of water every minute (that's 150,000 gallons per second). A $500 million investment, the pump is protected by 32-foot-tall, 225-foot-wide steel gates, which reach the river's bottom and are able to withstand a 16-foot storm surge. As if that wasn't enough, a 12-foot-thick concrete slab holds the gates, and that slab has its own support—518 steel pilings, each able to withstand more than 435,000 pounds.

Although it's meant to be completed sometime this year, there's still no word from the Army Corp of Engineers as to when it'll be up and running. [Blue Living Ideas via PopSci]

The few XP users left. (Anitvirus virus)

I know there are still some people using XP and they have probably come across the Fake AV virus. It is really annoying and seems to target XP machines. Here is how to fix it.

1. Download Malwarebytes free version (free malwarebytes)

2. put malwarebytes on a thumb drive

3.Reboot your pc and press F8 a few times before the XP splash screen comes up so you can get into Safe Mode. Boot into Safe Mode with Networking. (so malwarebytes can update it's database)

4. Install Malwarebytes and perform a full scan.

5. Remove all found threats.

6. Reboot computer normally.

Usually this is the end of it. There are some versions of the virus that route your internet traffic through a proxy server. You will know this is happening if you still cannot access the internet. To fix this open Internet Explorer and go to Tools>Internet Options, click on the Connections tab and hit the LAN Settings button. Uncheck the box that says "Use proxy server."

That is it. I've run into this virus (for you nerds, I know it's actually a trojan)at least 5 times that I can remember, not counting yesterday. Anyway, hope this helps.

Upgrade to Windows 7 when you get the chance. It's worth it.

Deloreans are cool like unicorns.
The only explanation is that I drive so fast that time and space distort around my truck. I've taken other pics from my truck with the same result. I guess it it could be explained by the fact that camera phones record very slow but I prefer the former explanation.

Vacation

I told myself I wouldn't do the staycation thing again this year but I did it anyway. This staycation helped me save some money and there's nothing I'd rather be doing than hang with friends and family anyway. Spent some time with my girlfriend and my dad in Slidell. Had fish tacos for the first time this week and had them 3 times this week! They are killer. New favorite food!!! I made a poster for my dad's dog Pete. I love the air out here in Slidell because we are right on the water. The air smells like salty sea water and reminds me of Destin, Florida.
I have enjoyed doing absolutely nothing and eating tons of seafood and gaining 10 lbs. in a week. I love how my staycation happens to end on Cinco De Mayo.
